Summer 2024 Newsletter – Posted 5/31/24

It's still not officially summer here in East Texas, but I'm pretty sure that neither our weather or the CFAC programming committees got the message. With 23 scheduled events planned over the next two months, our hope is that no kid or parent will even have a chance to say, "I'm bored." Check out all of the details and find some liturgical living tips to guide these next two months inside the Summer 2024 Newsletter.

Special thanks to Janae for always doing such a fabulous job putting together the newsletter and to Cheyenne for the phone calendar wallpaper she designed just for CFAC members!

I can't wait to see you all on our next big adventure!

Melissa

Regarding Today's Events – Posted 11/11/23
CFAC Leadership Team

By now many of you are aware of the news regarding Bishop Strickland having been relieved of his position as the Bishop of Tyler. This sad news has elicited very strong feelings and emotions for all the members of our community. We want to remind everyone that, regardless of any personal feelings and emotions, this decision will change our diocese.

Bishop Strickland’s removal will affect all of us and our parish communities to varying degrees. Please be cognizant that regardless of personal feelings about this decision, none of us truly know how this will all turn out. Please be kind to one another as we all process and adapt to the new reality in our diocese.

The best way for us to get through this period of turmoil is to come together and support each other. As a community, let’s do the one thing we can do in a situation that affects us but for which we have no control: pray.

“O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything!”

This simple but powerful prayer is echoed throughout the Surrender Novena, written by Servant of God, Don Dolindo Ruotolo, who served as Padre Pio’s spiritual director for a short time. Jesus spoke to him about total abandonment, and His words are shared in short, poignant, reflections for each day of this special devotion.

A digital copy of the prayer can be found here, Digital Download, courtesy of Healing Heart of Jesus (healingheartofjesus.com). Please consider praying it together as a family along with continuing to pray for The Church, her priests, bishops, and Pope.

Thank You! – Posted 5/22/23
Melissa Reaves

As we near the end of our first year together, it is way past time to thank everyone who has had an integral part in the success of building our community.

What began as a "little-idea" to create a group for homeschooling families to gather and share experiences has blossomed in a very short period of time into a vibrant and dynamic community of faithful families.

This would not have been possible without the support and encouragement, not to mention the time and sacrifices on the part of a core group of people, and I'd especially like to thank those members who have served or are serving on the Leadership Team.

Spring Retreat – Posted 5/2/23
Melissa Reaves

Last weekend member's enjoyed a Saturday away at our Spring Retreat for a day of connection, reflection, and preparation. The day included prayer, crafts, food, planning sessions, and endless laughs; and we were reminded of the beauty of community. At the end of the day, everyone left the retreat feeling excited for the year to come and encouraged to continue on this beautiful, messy, and important homeschooling adventure.

Be on the lookout for the fruit of our labor, the 2023-2024 calendar of events, to be published by July 1st.
